Dream Emporium: Swimming with the Toxapex

"So this is supposed to help me with collecting ocean samples?"

The girl looked at the stone curiously, setting down her bag. She was here on the beach to do a spot of research, but her diving gear didn't come in time. The odd little shopkeeper lent her this odd stone in place of it, claiming something about it being useful for helping out.

Certainly, it seemed to be glowing as she slipped into the water. Waiting, the girl noticed her arms starting to tingle, and to her shock they began to turn bluish, with a tougher texture. Furthermore, they appeared to be sprouting small spikes that were rapidly becoming not so small, as well as spikes on her inner arms which were turning a darker shade of blue. Her hands were shifting, fingers disappearing - they bisected in two, making her wince, before they were enveloped in a tough material, making her arms a claw-tipped limb.

Her legs had also been undergoing much the similar process, and in addition, both her arms and legs were becoming somewhat flatter. Between her arms and legs, more and more similar-looking tentacles began to sprout, poking out and resembling the flattening limbs that were her arms and legs. Two, four, six... eight extra limbs, for a total of twelve. The girl realized what she was becoming, when her body began to contract and shrivel.

It probably looked rather unpleasant, but the girl didn't feel much beyond a strange tingling sensation. Still, it was very odd to see her body... shrivel up, for lack of a better description, becoming purplish and losing almost all definition. Her arms... or rather, tentacles, as that was what they were, became longer than her shrinking body, and they were forming almost a dome around her. They were easily locking together, and with a gasp the girl found her head... rotating, flipping upside down, finding herself looking -down- at her floating body, with her limbs extending out above what used to be above her. Her now-large head finally began to shift, her nose disappearing into her head and her eyes widening, her mouth filling up with sharp, venomous fangs. 

Floating down in the water, stone securely around the 'neck' of her floating body, the girl found herself landing on the seabed. She could see the sandy bottom in all directions. Well, that shopkeeper wasn't wrong...
